How do I sign for deliveries remotely?
Once a delivery or collection has been completed using ParcelPal the courier can obtain POD (Point Of Delivery) confirmation using a bar-code scanner to scan the unique barcode inside your ParcelPal container. If the delivery person does not have a bar-code scanner (which would be rare these days) then the human-readable number under the bar-code can be recorded instead.
This is the equivalent of giving your signature, as you have personally given access to the inside of the parcel box where the barcode resides.
ParcelPal will digitally record each action it is asked to perform (connecting a phone call to the intercom, opening the secure container, locking the container etc). This digital record will include the action taken as well as the date and time of the action. This information is uploaded to the Transaction History at www.parcelpal.com. This digital record of actions is encrypted, not editable, and will stand in a court of law as such.
It is possible that you were not expecting a delivery or you are unsure of the credibility of a particular delivery in which case you can refuse to accept the delivery just as you could if you were answering the door in person. Refusing a delivery using ParcelPal is as simple as refusing to open the secure container.
