In fact, Vancouver is filled with restaurants that cater to those who favour quantity, but without sacrificing quality.
A Vancouver institution for over 25 years, Anton’s is the place to go if you are looking for a massive plate of tasty pasta. The running joke in Vancouver is that you order a meal at Anton’s, eat all that you can, and you will still have enough left over for lunch the next day, and maybe even dinner. But this is not cafeteria-style pasta. It’s delicious and authentic Italian fare, and although the salads, soups, and appies are all tasty, when you are hungry AF, it’s all about the pasta, with over 30 varieties to choose from.
Crowd Favourite: Fettuccine Creola: Italian sausage, chicken, and shrimp in a spicy tomato sauce. Yum, sausage.
If you happen to find yourself on Davie Street in Vancouver’s West End, wondering about the massive lineup in the middle of the sidewalk, then you have probably found Stepho’s. And if filling your hungry belly with huge amounts of delicious Greek food, then you will definitely want to join that line. When you are hungry AF, nothing hits the spot like a massive plate of authentic Greek food.
Crowd Favourite: Lamb Souvlaki, with rice pilaf, roast potatoes, and Greek salad. A classic.
If you find yourself craving sushi and want the most bang-for-your-buck, then Sushi California is your destination. It boasts of great customer service, a wide selection of sushi and Japanese food, and season specials to leave you wanting more.

There are times when you are as hungry AF in downtown Vancouver, and only pizza will do. When this happens, you have two options: buy a handful of cheap, flimsy $1.99 pizzas from some hole in the wall, or settle into Pacifico Pizzeria and chow down on some authentic Napoli-style, flame-baked pizza on a hand-tossed thin crust with an extremely generous pile of toppings.
Crowd Favourite: The Vesuvio: pepperoni, hot Italian sausage, capicollo, genoa salami, topped with mozzarella and quark cheese. Meaty, spicy goodness.
Are you down with Bao? Bao are soft, flat, steamed buns, which are filled with an assortment of fresh and Asian-inspired ingredients. Think of it as refined Asian street food. Bao Down has long been a popular Gastown destination for a quick and tasty lunch, dinner or snack. That popularity has led Bao down to open a second Gastropub location in Olympic Village. Baos are as delicious as they are filling and perfect when you are hungry AF.
Crowd Favourite: The Bao Chicka Bao Bao: garlic & lemongrass fried chicken, daikon, crisp garlic, fish sauce glaze, carrot, garlic scape mayo. Bet you can’t just have two.
Nothing beats hunger like piles of perfectly smoked meat. Located in the heart of Gastown, Peckinpah specializes in North Carolina-style BBQ: dry-rubbed, smoked, and served with a chili vinegar sauce. While their menu is filled with all sorts of Southern yumminess, like deep fried pickles and bacon baked mac ‘n’ cheese, their smoked meats are what it’s all about.
Crowd Favourite: A full rack of their succulent Pork Ribs, with creamed corn and house made cornbread. Extra napkins a must.
